Family Support Program

The Family Support Program aims to provide flexible, responsive support to families who have a family member living with a disability. This is achieved by providing support in a way that strengthens the family’s ability to care for their family member at home, and to participate in the community. The Family Support Program assists with building formal and informal supports for families, which meet the needs and priorities of all family members and increase the capacity of families to continue in their caring role. Families and Facilitators work together to plan and coordinate resources and supports to meet the needs of the family. In an innovative approach ARC has this year worked with Disability Services to provide services in remote communities in partnership with Family Planning Queensland. Programs are running in a number of remote Cape Communities to support parents and carers with support, advice and information around relationships and sexuality.
