Peter Aitken

Picture
Peter is a parent and carer of two adult men both with intellectual impairment and autism spectrum disorder. He has been working in the acute care section of public hospitals for thirty seven years as a Registered Nurse, the last twenty four years in Intensive Care.

As a passionate advocate for disabled people who are restricted in engaging in mainstream life, he sees ARC's important role in allowing disable people to realise their potential and integrate into society.

Peter’s family have been supported by ARC for many years and he has witnessed the maturing and increasing professionalism of the organisation. The NDIA has provided great opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The way ARC has dealt with the complexities of the process has made it the go-to organisation for many families to help navigate this stressful journey. Peter is very excited about the immediate and long term future for ARC and is proud to represent a parent/carer perspective on the board.
