
Health and Wellbeing
We offer a range of programs to assist you maximise your health and wellbeing and quality of life. Whatever your journey improved health is important whether it be food and nutrition, sport and fitness or general mental and physical wellbeing we cover it all.
BOCCIA
Fun sports activity with balls practicing coordination and movement, activity, team and social skills. Participants can also use a specialized ramp to roll ball to aid participation for everyone.
BIKE RIDING
Services users are supported to ride on local bike paths and learn bike skills including road safety, maintaining a bike, hand signals and coordination. ARC has 3 wheel and 2 wheel bikes.
SWIMMING
Visiting the local swimming pool the program will vary depending upon the swimming levels of the group. We access the pool to swim to do exercise, water activities and games encouraging fitness and fun. Cost contribution : POA
TENNIS
Depending on the time of year this will be an outdoor or indoor activity. In cooler months will be at the Tennis Centre Mulgrave Road. Summer months at ARC indoors. Individuals will use specialised portable tennis equipment, and complete a variety of ball activities. The sessions will be ran by a Tennis Coach from the Tennis Centre.
YOGA
Basic stretches and exercises, simple yoga moves working various parts of the body to individual’s level and ability. Incorporating relaxation with music and sound.
MASSAGE & RELAXATION
Individuals will be in a quiet space where they can relax and have very simple gentle touching (not therapy) and light stretching of limbs with relaxing music. Use of foot spa’s and equipment as appropriate for individuals.
SPORTS & GAMES
Engage in a wide variety of sporting options and games encouraging health and fitness. Learn safety and risks of exercise, hand and eye coordination, team building, discuss and plan sports activities, learn safe use of equipment. Activities vary depending upon the weather and season.
EXERCISE & MOVEMENT
Individuals are supported to use equipment as necessary, engage in physical fun activities at their level in promoting healthy active living. Learn safety and risks involved in.
SAILABILITY PROGRAM
Cairns Yacht Club run a Sailability Program for individuals to experience sailing in specialised boats with support from experienced crew. Suitable for all levels of ability. Program will be run on a fortnightly basis and is dependent on weather which is guided by the Yacht Club. Alternate week the individuals work on Project relating to Sailing.
SENSORY STORIES
Individuals will get to experience a variety of stories from real life experiences with and using many alternative ways to experience the story being worked through. Opening up the senses and exploring them deeper. This includes, objects, sounds, smells.
FIT 360 GYM
An interactive Gym at Fit360 on Mulgrave Road. A specialised gym with interactive lights and computers on the walls and floors to encourage and test coordination and fitness and challenge skills at all levels easy to challenging. Cost Contribution : POA
